What do you love about what you do every day? First as a good government geek, I admire the fact that my position at Multnomah County allows me to operate everyday to assist to assure that Multnomah County supplies quality services at a good valuableness for our citizens and that Multnomah County is a good place to perform. Second, I admire  a few minutes every day on the green roof of my building, observing at the Portland downtown skyline from the eastside and watching the OHSU trams on their travels.

Background and Experience: Masters in Business Administration, Business Administration and Computer Science. I’d been a councellor to the healthcare industry for many years, bringing focus on the efficient usage of technology in health systems and physician practices before I started to bring focus on establishments in the community health and public health sectors of healthcare.

What do you love about what you do every day? I love that I have the flexibility in my life to be able to contribute to organizations such as OCHIN through my time in board service.

Background and Experience: Graduate school for public health and administration at Portland State University and University of Washington, BS Western Washington. I had been the CFO at Multnomah County Health Department from 1988-2000 and a board member of OPCA from 2001-2006. I’ve worked as a board member of the CareOregon development group since 1997, as a board officer since 1999, and as a board chair since 2004.

Background and Experience: Post graduate PHSM from Harvard School of Public Health 1979, MBA from Harvard University Graduate School of Business. I spent from 1979-1983 as the Director of Health for Alameda County, California where I was responsible for public and community health and hospitals. I spent the next 13 years with Kaiser Permanente in Oregon and California, responsible for health plans, hospitals, and community health. Just before coming to OCHIN, I was the Tillamook County Health Administrator for FQHC and public health from 1999-2000. Other community health experience includes international health, community health consulting, teaching, and a position as the director of a methadone maintenance/detox clinic.

What do you love about what you do every day? Working with and for people who have a social justice passion to provide high-quality and accessible health care and the health information tools to make this dream a possibility.
