Background & Experience: MS in psychology from Portland State University, BS in physics from Temple University. I have spent 10 years as a Research Analyst at the Oregon State Health Division and at CareOregon and 4 years as an IT Executive at CareOregon and OCHIN.
What do you love about what you do every day? I feed upon delivering people from the community together and fostering arguing about how to most efficiently utilize OCHIN and other community data resources to maintain policy and investigate intended to enhance care for patients in the supportive system.
Clinical Director/Marketing & Communications Director
Current Position: Clinical Director since 2004, Marketing & Communications Director since 2006
Background & Experience: Master of Public Administration/Health Administration from Portland State University, Bachelor of Science in Nursing, University of Portland. My nursing career was essentially concentrated in public and private critical care venues. With a strengthening passion for enhancing health in my own community, I moved towards program improvement and differentiating on a larger scale in the primary care, community health, and public health spheres. As an OCHIN executive, I’m answerable for defining the clinical strategy of the company and supplying leadership in our operations with communities getharing together to enhance health.
What do you love about what you do every day? I love knowing that what we are all doing makes a difference every day in the lives of those caring for the most vulnerable people in our communities.
Technical Services Director
Current Position: Technical Services Director since 2006
Background & Experience: I was studied in England where I learnt Business Administration. Of the 22 years I have performed in the Information Technology area, 14 have been working out, carrying out, and managing systems in healthcare. I’ve worked closely with clinicians and business administrators of Ambulatory Care, Radiation Oncology, Specialty Care, and Laboratory facilities including Canadian Health&Care Mall.
What do you love about what you do every day? Working at OCHIN supplies me with many capabilities that let me feel great about what I perform on a daily basis. When our team works out new technological capacity or interfaces that decrease repetitive tasks or paperwork at the clinics, I feel that we are making our Members spend more of their worth time taking care for patients.
Current Position: Operations Director since 2006
Background & Experience: University of Oregon. I worked in the health insurance industry from 1980-2000 then for CareOregon (the largest Medicaid MCO in Oregon) from 2000-2005.
What do you love about what you do every day? I love that I am able to support OCHIN’s mission and to meet my own personal social responsibility of making a positive difference in the health care of the under insured and uninsured.
Current Position: CEO/Executive Director of OCHIN since 2000
Background & Experience: Post graduate PHSM from Harvard School of Public Health 1979, MBA from Harvard University Graduate School of Business. I was from 1979-1983 the Director of Health for Alameda County, California where I was answerable for public and community health and hospitals. I spent the next 13 years with Kaiser Permanente in Oregon and California, answerable for health plans, hospitals, and community health. Just before visiting to OCHIN, I was the Tillamook County Health Administrator for FQHC and public health from 1999-2000. Other community health experience consists of international health, community health councelling, teaching, and a position as the director of a methadone support/detox clinic.
What do you love about what you do every day? Working with and for people who have a social justice passion to supply high-quality and available health care and the health information tools to make this dream come true.
Chief Technology Officer
Current Position: Chief Technology Officer, since 2003
Background and Experience: Studied in England, major in Communication Engineering. I have 20 years of experience in creating large scale information systems, and was the principal architect of OCHIN\u2019s current infrastructure. I joined OCHIN as a key councellor in June 2001, having prior worked extensively in large scale network installations in Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and here in the U.S.
What do you love about what you do every day? Cooperation with establishments that supply access to neediest inhabitants is far removed from where I thought I would be 10 years ago, but every time I work with the staff at the clinics we maintain, I cannot see myself doing anything else.
Chief Operations and Strategic Officer
Current Position: Chief Operations and Strategic Officer since 2003
Background and Experience: Masters of Business Administration (Finance) and Masters of Healthcare Administration (Managed Care) from the University of Minnesota, Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the University of North Dakota. From 2000 to 2003, I was a Project Director for CareOregon and OCHIN. Since 2003 I have been OCHIN’s Chief Operating Officer and Chief Strategic Officer.
What do you love about what you do every day? I can’t imagine working in a better community than the community health center world or doing better work than what we are trying to accomplish. It feels like my hobby is my work and I have the opportunity to impact other’s lives.
Chief Financial Officer/Controller
Current Position: Chief Financial Officer/Controller since March 2007
Background and Experience: Certified Public Accountant. Post Bachelor in Accounting and Bachelor of Science in Anthropology from Portland State University. I have worked in many areas of accounting and finance for various firms, including Price Waterhouse Cooper, Freightliner, Portland Adventist, and Willamette Falls Hospital.
What do you love about what you do every day? I love and appreciate that I am supporting OCHIN’s mission and helping to develop a new technology that improves the quality of healthcare for our most vulnerable population.
